Curriculum, Instruction and Assessment (CIA) - Service by Design

Research indicates that highly qualified staff is the critical factor in raising student achievement. The most effective professional development is well-planned, ongoing, job embedded, and springs from building level, school district, and individual professional goals.

This service offers your district the opportunity to build a customized, on-site professional development plan designed specifically around your district’s needs and schedule through ongoing consultation with CESA #4 Directors. Through this plan, your district will have access to all of CESA #4’s instructional leaders and resources. Services can be offered through early release days, late start times, professional development days, or through grade level and collaboration meetings based on your schools’ schedules.

Examples of possible topics we can bring to your site could include:

Curriculum

  • Curriculum development related to the common core standards
  • Data analysis for classroom decisions
  • Discipline literacy
  • Content knowledge workshops

Instruction

  • RtI: Strategies for universal instruction
  • Daily Five and CAFÉ
  • Differentiating Instruction
  • Classroom engagement
  • Classroom management
  • Effective instructional coaching

Assessment

  • Developing standards-based report cards
  • Formative and summative assessment
  • Developing effective Performance Tasks
  • RtI: Screening and Progress Monitoring
  • Classroom preparation for the Smarter Balanced Assessments

Appropriate technology may be infused into individual offerings in all three strands (i.e., use of platforms, blended instruction, tools, Google applications, etc.).
