PI 34 Educator Quality and Licensing/Mentoring

The PI 34 Educator Quality and Licensing program at CESA #4 is an all inclusive service that will take initial educators from their first days in the classroom/school with an initial educator license to the completion of their Professional Development Plan (PDP) and therefore professional educator license. CESA #4 will assist districts in planning and implementing the required components of PI 34: 1) a qualified mentor, 2) standards-based support seminars, 3) collaboratively- developed, on-going orientation, and 4) leadership support in licensing for all initial educators (teachers, pupil services, and
administrators).

Level 1 - Basic Service

  • Conduct a site visit with all member districts to meet all initial educators holding a teaching/pupil services/administrator license to introduce and meet members and explain services
  • Confirm and contact all second, third, fourth, and fifth year initial educators in the district
  • Provide a new teacher orientation packet for each initial educator (for those who need and request)
  • Provide a minimum of four standards-based support seminar modules for first year initial educators
  • Provide a minimum of two standards- based support seminar modules for second year initial educators
  • Assist first and second year initial educators with the development and goal approval process for their PDPs
  • Conduct one mentor training each year
  • Provide a minimum of one Goal Approval Seminar for second year educators
  • Provide a minimum of one PDP Verification Seminar
  • Provide technical assistance through e-mail, phone calls, and correspondence
  • Share PI 34 program templates and best practices

Level 2 – Customized Service

Mentoring:
CESA #4 will provide a qualified, trained mentor for each initial educator in your district. The mentoring service will be customized to meet individual district needs based on the number of initial educators, the number of contacts between mentor and initial educator, and the number of license categories served.
